About Defence Housing Australia
Established in 1988 under the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) delivers suitable housing and related services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families, supporting Defence’s operational requirements. DHA manages a large housing portfolio, providing accommodation to over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administering rent allowances for more than 16,000 in private rentals. The organisation also handles eligibility advice, posting support, and management of bookings and allocations for all DHA-provided and on-base accommodation for approximately 60,000 ADF members.

The Governance Group at DHA is responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and sustaining strong governance practices. It operates in a dynamic environment, spearheading initiatives that enhance organisational capability, accountability, and performance. The team promotes a culture grounded in integrity, ethical decision-making, and responsible behavior while fostering strong stakeholder relationships and delivering quality services.
Role Overview
The Senior Protective Security Officer position is a pivotal role focused on elevating DHA's protective security functions. This role involves managing personnel and physical security as well as oversight of security governance duties. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, the officer will provide expert advice, lead security projects, and improve the organisation's security maturity.
