Senior Project Manager – Halifax, Nova Scotia

Position Overview

Join CGI, Canada's largest independent IT services firm, as we grow in Atlantic Canada. We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of projects from start to finish, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and formal closure.
• Create comprehensive project charters, detailed work plans, timelines, budgets, and maintain risk and issue logs.
• Lead cross-functional teams made up of business stakeholders, vendors, and technical staff.
• Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and decision-making sessions with project sponsors and leadership teams.
• Ensure projects align with corporate priorities, governance structures, and project management best practices.
• Track and report on project progress and deliverables clearly for leadership review.
• Identify potential risks and problems, formulate mitigation strategies, and escalate concerns as necessary.
• Assist in procurement processes including vendor evaluation, contract oversight, and implementation management.
• Lead change management efforts, including training and readiness activities to facilitate successful adoption.
• Ensure compliance with privacy, security, accessibility, and relevant regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, IT, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years’ progressive experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• Proven track record of completing projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting agreed scope.
• Strong expertise in detailed project planning, scheduling, budget management, risk assessment, and vendor management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and toolsets, such as PMBOK, Agile, and hybrid approaches.

Desired Experience

• Background in utility or public sector projects is advantageous.
• Professional certifications like PMP, PMI-ACP, or PRINCE2 are preferred.
• Experience with digital transformation, enterprise systems, infrastructure modernization, and service improvement projects.
• Knowledge of change management frameworks such as Prosci or ADKAR.

Additional Information

Compensation is estimated between $75,000 to $145,000 annually, dependent on skills, experience, location, certifications, and specific circumstances. This position represents a future opportunity within CGI.
