Principal Enterprise Architect

Position Overview

CGI is looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect to lead enterprise-level Application Portfolio Management (APM), Technology Portfolio Management (TPM), and modernization efforts within a major financial services organization. This position focuses on advancing portfolio assessment, governance, rationalization, and modernization processes. The architect will develop portfolio frameworks, enhance linkage between business capabilities and technology assets, and transform architectural data into actionable insights to guide investment and modernization strategies.

This role requires collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture, Product, Engineering, and Portfolio Management teams, utilizing enterprise architecture platforms such as ARIS, Alfabet, or equivalent tools. Experience supporting modernization initiatives in environments heavily leveraging AWS cloud technologies is highly advantageous. The role is based in one of these locations: Lafayette, LA; Knoxville, TN; Columbia, SC; Birmingham, AL.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise application and technology portfolio evaluations for modernization, rationalization, lifecycle oversight, and technical health assessment.
• Establish and maintain the portfolio frameworks that connect business capabilities, value streams, applications, technologies, and supporting processes.
• Develop portfolio assessment criteria, modernization scorecards, metrics, governance standards, and safeguards.
• Turn architecture and portfolio data into structured, actionable intelligence for business and technology stakeholders.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership through strong communication and stakeholder management.

Required Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture within large, complex enterprise settings.
• Expertise in Application Portfolio Management (APM) and Technology Portfolio Management (TPM).
• Proficient in evaluating portfolios for modernization, rationalization, lifecycle management, and assessing technical health.
• Solid understanding of enterprise architecture modeling, metamodels, architecture repositories, and architecture as data methodologies.
• Hands-on knowledge of ARIS, Alfabet, or similar enterprise architecture management tools.
• Capability to link business capabilities, value streams, applications, technologies, and processes effectively.
• Experience in creating portfolio assessments, modernization scorecards, metrics, governance, and guardrails.
• Strong knowledge of cloud modernization, especially in AWS-centric enterprise environments.
• Ability to translate architecture data into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills, able to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Experience in financial services or other heavily regulated industries is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

Additional Information

The estimated salary range in the U.S. for this role is between $129,100 and $226,200 annually. Compensation depends on factors such as skills, experience, certifications, and merit-based performance considerations.
