About the Role
Lightspeed Commerce is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Onboarding team, working remotely with flexibility from Auckland, New Zealand. The team supports a diverse range of retail customers—from small single-store merchants to large, multi-store enterprises—helping them adopt Lightspeed's platform quickly and efficiently. Your mission will be to streamline the onboarding process, minimizing manual inputs and steps, using data-driven insights to help customers reach key milestones and build lasting sales habits on the POS system.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives autonomously, shaping nebulous ideas into clear, valuable product features and exploring innovative solutions including AI integration.
- Apply deep UX and UI knowledge to develop coherent, elegant systems, flows, and interfaces that leverage and enhance the existing design system for consistency and usability.
- Advocate for user-centric design by translating research data into meaningful solutions, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and marketing.
- Promote a positive design culture both within the design studio and across the broader organization.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in product, UX, and UI design in an in-house setting.
- Strong communication skills to clearly present and explain design work to internal stakeholders.
- Refined aesthetic sensibility to elevate brand visual identities.
- Curiosity and adaptability to evolve design methods, especially leveraging AI tools for enhanced user-centered designs.
- Experience designing for a variety of platforms including responsive web, native applications, and emerging technologies.
- High emotional intelligence with empathy for users and team objectives.
- Considerate approach to product strategy and vision, focusing on the reason behind design choices.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and AI-driven prototyping software.
