Senior Product Analyst - Invoice & Payment Management

About the Role

As a Senior Product Analyst for Invoice & Payment Management, you will assist the Product Owner in shaping and executing the vision for the Invoice to Pay product within the Invoice & Payment Management team. This position demands in-depth functional expertise in Basware, SAP Accounts Payable, and payment management solutions. You will translate complex business requirements into effective product solutions, challenge delivery methods, and ensure process consistency throughout the end-to-end workflow. Operating with considerable independence, you will retain vital knowledge internally to minimize reliance on external service providers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the squad Product Owner and Finance stakeholders to understand and prioritize Invoice to Pay requirements aligned with the product roadmap and governance standards.
• Assess and analyze comprehensive invoice and payment workflows, covering invoice receipt, verification, matching, enrichment, approval, posting, payment preparation, execution, status tracking, and reconciliation.
• Convert complex business demands into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process designs, and functional product documentation.
• Evaluate impacts on Basware, SAP Accounts Payable, payment procedures, master data, controls, integrations, and associated Finance or Procurement systems.
• Critique functional designs and proposed solutions, highlight risks and trade-offs, and advise the Product Owner with evidence-based insights.
• Oversee and validate work conducted by internal teams and external AMS providers, system integrators, and technology partners during design, implementation, testing, deployment, and stabilization phases.
• Assist in resolving complex incidents and problems by pinpointing root causes, interdependencies, and establishing effective corrective measures.
• Contribute to the testing strategy, business validation, release preparations, cutover plans, and transfer of knowledge.
• Monitor product and process performance metrics, proposing enhancements to automation, compliance, user experience, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain comprehensive Invoice to Pay functional knowledge, documentation, and decision records within the Product Team.
• Serve as a credible liaison between Invoice to Pay business stakeholders and various internal and external teams including Product Owners, Analysts, chapters, architecture, data, security, AMS, and partners.
• Lead cross-functional workshops to facilitate design and problem-solving, driving consensus when invoice and payment processes intersect multiple systems, entities, or geographies.
• Mentor Product Analysts to foster consistent product analysis, documentation, testing, and methodology within the squad.
• Escalate significant risks and decisions appropriately while independently managing daily functional matters within established product boundaries.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Overall professional experience of at least 7 years in Invoice to Pay, Procure to Pay, Accounts Payable, finance transformation, functional consulting, or product management roles.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on expertise in vendor invoice management, SAP Accounts Payable, payment management, Basware or similar implementations, integrations, deployments, and process optimizations.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related fields.
• Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of end-to-end vendor invoice management and Accounts Payable processes including invoice capture, controls, matching, approval, posting, payment preparation, and execution.
• Practical functional knowledge of Basware and SAP Accounts Payable with strong competency in configurations, interfaces, and process impacts; ability to critically evaluate delivery partner work.
• Proven capability to convert intricate business needs into functional solutions, user stories, acceptance criteria, and well-documented product assets.
• Experience in reviewing and validating functional designs, integration decisions, test results, and deployment outcomes.
• Ability to identify dependencies, compliance and control risks, and operational effects spanning systems and teams.
• High autonomy, sound judgment, and influence skills to engage senior business, IT, and partner stakeholders without direct authority.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and structured problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Experience with Basware AP Automation, Basware Network, supplier invoicing processes, e-invoicing, or invoice archiving.
• Knowledge of SAP FI-AP, S/4HANA Finance, payment processing runs, banking integrations, or payment control mechanisms.
• Exposure to global core-model governance or deployment across multiple countries.
• Familiarity with Procurement systems, vendor master data management, tax regulations, withholding tax, and financial controls dependencies.
• Relevant certifications such as Agile, product management, business analysis, SAP, or Basware certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
