Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel specializing in EU privacy law to provide expert legal guidance supporting Pinterest's compliance with European data protection regulations including GDPR and ePrivacy. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as Product, Engineering, Data, Security, Marketing, and Legal to embed privacy-by-design principles throughout product development, influence key product launches, and uphold privacy compliance.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive EU privacy product counseling from concept through launch and beyond.
• Advise on GDPR, ePrivacy, Digital Services Act, EU AI Act matters focusing on lawful bases, transparency, consent mechanisms, profiling, data minimization, retention policies, and data subject rights.
• Lead and support privacy risk assessments including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), managing mitigation strategies alongside cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to embed privacy-by-design and scalable privacy controls like consent enforcement and data access management.
• Offer legal guidance on data sharing, vendor agreements, and data protection addenda relating to EU data processing.
• Provide counsel on international data transfers within the EU framework, coordinating with internal and external legal advisors to ensure compliant transfer mechanisms.
• Develop and enhance privacy workflows, templates, and playbooks to streamline and standardize privacy reviews across teams.
• Address privacy issues arising from incidents or complaints, driving process improvements in cooperation with Legal and cross-functional partners.
• Utilize AI tools responsibly to augment the efficiency and consistency of privacy counseling and programmatic processes while maintaining legal oversight.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified to practice law in your residing jurisdiction or hold an equivalent EU legal qualification.
• Extensive post-qualification experience with a focus on EU privacy law, including GDPR and preferably ePrivacy.
• Proven track record providing product-focused privacy counsel in fast-paced settings, able to translate complex legal requirements into practical advice.
• Experience in conducting DPIAs and privacy risk assessments, leading risk mitigation efforts to facilitate compliant product launches.
• Proficient understanding of modern data handling in products, including data flows, analytics, SDKs/APIs, and tracking technologies, supporting privacy-by-design counseling.
• Exceptional judgment, integrity, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong ability to collaborate across teams and align stakeholders in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
• Highly organized with the capacity to handle multiple priorities independently, showing detail orientation and sound decision-making.
• Enthusiastic learner with a proactive and flexible problem-solving mindset.
• Competence or willingness to adopt AI and similar technologies to enhance legal operations.
• Experience addressing multi-jurisdictional legal challenges in technology sectors is advantageous.
• Familiarity with international data transfer standards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and associated risk assessments preferred.

Additional Information

• This position does not offer relocation support; however, it operates under the PinFlex model promoting flexible working.
• The role requires physical presence in the office for collaborative activities approximately once monthly, allowing residence anywhere in Ireland.

• Salary range for this position is between €98,959 and €173,178 annually, with equity compensation eligible. The final salary is influenced by location, experience, and expertise.
