Job description
Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled R&D Software Engineer to join the Xcelium team responsible for developing Cadence's leading logic simulation platform. The focus is on advancing multi-core technologies such as Distributed Simulation and Multi-Core Checkers to enhance gate-level verification capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enhance Distributed Simulation features that enable simulations to run across multiple processes on different machines, maintaining seamless synchronization and coherence.
- Optimize and simplify the usability, configuration, and diagnostics of distributed simulation, targeting performance improvements for critical customer use cases.
- Develop and integrate Multi-Core Checkers to accelerate simulation by distributing checker modules across processor cores while ensuring simulation accuracy.
- Work on performance improvements, bug fixes, and usability enhancements related to Xcelium's multi-core technologies including RTL acceleration.
- Translate high-priority customer requirements into scalable and robust technical solutions applicable to a broad user base.
- Collaborate closely with product engineering, field applications, and R&D teams worldwide to troubleshoot issues, define solutions, and facilitate customer adoption.
- Analyze and address performance bottlenecks affecting runtime, scalability, and resource use in distributed and multi-core simulation workflows.
- Enhance user experience through better error reporting, sensible defaults, automation, and documentation-friendly practices.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code with strong emphasis on correctness, diagnostics, regression testing, and long-term supportability.
- Investigate and resolve complex functional, performance, and field issues related to Xcelium multi-core technologies.
- Define test coverage and regression strategies in cooperation with product validation teams.
- Engage in global cross-functional collaboration to align architectural and implementation strategies across multi-core projects.
- Lead significant software feature areas end-to-end from design through implementation and maintenance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and promote internal knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Stay abreast of advancements in verification workloads, SoC simulation needs, and high-performance simulation technology trends.
- Manage and prioritize tasks through Agile methodologies, facilitating sprint planning, progress monitoring, risk identification, and removal of blockers to improve team delivery efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development in complex C/C++ environments, preferably within EDA, simulation, compiler technology, runtime systems, or HPC.
- In-depth knowledge of multi-threaded, multi-process, and distributed software architecture focusing on synchronization, communication, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Proven track record developing performance-critical infrastructure prioritizing scalability, correctness, and reliability.
- Experience with Linux environments, debugging tools, version control systems, build automation, and regression testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with SystemVerilog, Verilog, UVM, logic simulation, or semiconductor verification is highly advantageous.
- Background in EDA simulation tools, distributed and multi-threaded systems, and inter-process communication is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the capability to debug complex issues in large-scale codebases and customer deployments.
- Excellent English communication skills for global collaboration with engineering and customer support teams.
- Self-driven, detail-focused, and capable of independently managing challenging technical assignments from concept through to production support.
