Senior Platform Engineer

About the Role and Company

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in evolving platform engineering within the company by transitioning from traditional DevOps methods to a platform-as-a-product approach. You will develop essential self-service tools, reusable components, and streamlined pathways that empower engineering teams to deploy independently, securely, and efficiently.

Working in the Platform team, your responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and observability platforms critical to daily engineering operations. You will serve engineering teams as customers, managing projects end to end—from conception through deployment—while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Engage with engineering teams to understand and prioritize their needs, resolving platform-related issues and using feedback to enhance the platform continuously.
• Develop self-service features, golden paths, and platform components that reduce the dependency on ticket-based support.
• Create, maintain, and improve platform tools and automation spanning the software development lifecycle.
• Leverage CI/CD pipelines for automating infrastructure provisioning, build processes, testing, and releases.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform as the standard for platform configuration changes.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of infrastructure and platform services, enhancing monitoring and observability for production environments.
• Apply security best practices such as least-privilege access management, secrets handling, and container image scanning, implemented as code.
• Promote platform engineering principles and cloud security awareness among engineering teams.
• Participate in architectural design reviews and decisions to guide platform evolution.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over five years in platform or infrastructure engineering roles.
• At least three years’ experience working with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Proficient in designing and deploying containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep expertise in supporting Linux systems and cloud-native workload operations.
• Extensive hands-on experience writing and deploying Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Skilled in designing CI/CD workflows, logging, and monitoring tools tailored for development teams.
• Experienced in implementing observability solutions in Kubernetes and cloud-hosted environments.
• Competent in scripting and automating deployments.
• Familiarity with operating highly available production systems.
• Background in consulting or scalable fast-paced environments preferred over long-term stable or rigid operational setups.

Desirable (Not Mandatory)

• Experience with GitOps and progressive delivery technologies such as ArgoCD or Flux.
• Contributions to internal developer platforms like Backstage or similar.
• Knowledge in multi-tenant Kubernetes architecture or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.
