Role Overview

As a Solutions Engineer at Nearmap, you will serve as a trusted technical partner who assists clients in maximizing the value of our Imagery, 3D, and AI products. Collaborating closely with Sales, you will spearhead technical engagements that span the entire customer lifecycle — from initial discovery and designing solutions to post-sale adoption and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth strategic discovery meetings with clients and prospects to thoroughly comprehend their workflows, data environments, and business needs.
• Act as a trusted advisor by guiding client strategies, solution architectures, and nurturing executive-level relationships throughout pre-sales, implementation, and post-sales phases.
• Create and deliver customized demos and scalable scenario-driven presentations illustrating how Nearmap’s products address specific client challenges.
• Spot opportunities for upselling and growth, offering expert advice on API usage, offline solutions, and bespoke application development.
• Lead integration and onboarding processes for new clients, providing hands-on technical assistance and best practice recommendations.
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams such as Product and Engineering, relaying feedback, reporting issues, and identifying feature requests; also collaborate with Sales Enablement teams on training sessions.
• Coordinate with Survey Operations to tailor and deliver custom aerial flights and offline product offerings.
• Represent Nearmap as an industry thought leader at webinars, content initiatives, and events; mentor junior Solutions Engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related geospatial discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in customer-focused technical roles (e.g., Solutions Engineer, Civil Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist), blending technical proficiency with business insight.
• Demonstrated success in pre-sales activities, influencing technical purchasing decisions and fostering customer satisfaction.
• Domain expertise within Engineering, Construction, Property, or Geospatial sectors.

Technical Skills

• High proficiency with API technologies, programming (notably Python), and custom web GIS application development.
• Practical experience using geospatial tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
• A solid grasp of AI and machine learning concepts relevant to geospatial analytics.
• Familiarity with imagery analysis, photogrammetry, or remote sensing is advantageous.
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, comfortable addressing audiences from technical staff to executive leadership.
