Role Overview

The Senior Physical Design Engineer is responsible for the complete physical implementation and final signoff of digital blocks and system-on-chips (SoCs). This role involves collaborating with teams that may be spread across different locations. The engineer will apply hands-on physical design expertise to deliver superior implementation outcomes while deepening technical skills spanning the RTL-to-GDSII design flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform RTL-to-GDSII design implementation tasks such as floorplanning, clock tree synthesis, routing, equivalence verification, timing closure, and physical checks.
• Utilize Cadence or Synopsys physical design tool flows to manage implementation, optimization, and signoff steps effectively.
• Possess solid knowledge of synthesis processes and timing constraint interpretation to analyze design outcomes and provide constructive feedback to the development team.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to timing, power consumption, IR drop/electromigration, design rule checks, and layout versus schematic verification, with support from senior engineers when needed.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration abilities, exhibit eagerness to learn, and take ownership of assigned physical design tasks.

Qualifications

• Academic degree such as B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related areas.
• Between three and seven years of pertinent experience in physical design or digital implementation roles.
• Practical expertise with industry-standard physical design and signoff software, preferably Cadence or Synopsys toolsets.
