Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Process Design Kit (PDK) Development Engineer to join our Engineering Enablement group in Limerick, Ireland. The engineer will be instrumental in the creation, maintenance, and support of comprehensive PDKs for diverse semiconductor processes, including those from both internal and external fabrication facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and upkeep detailed PDKs accurately reflecting semiconductor process technologies.
- Develop and maintain Design Rule Checking (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), and RC extraction rule decks utilizing leading EDA platforms such as Cadence Pegasus, Siemens Calibre, or Synopsys ICV.
- Build and support parameterized layout cells (pcells) using Cadence Skill and other relevant scripting languages.
- Create automation scripts to improve layout generation, verification, and design environment configurations.
- Collaborate with process, integration, and design teams to translate process parameters into physical design constraints.
- Design and enhance PDK quality assurance flows and validation approaches.
- Provide well-documented technical support to internal and external PDK users.
- Ensure adherence of deliverables to foundry-specified design compliance rules.
- Coordinate with EDA suppliers, IP vendors, and stakeholders to synchronize PDK updates with technology roadmaps and customer requirements.
- Drive continual improvements in PDK infrastructure and layout automation frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant PDK development experience within the semiconductor industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in PDK creation and integration with EDA tools.
- Proficient in programming and scripting languages including Skill, TCL, Python, or Perl.
- Hands-on experience in constructing and validating DRC/LVS rule decks.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor design rules and layout methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills suitable for rapid problem-solving in dynamic settings.
