Senior Packaging Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Packaging Engineer to create, refine, and validate packaging solutions ensuring product safety, visibility, and proper handling. This role demands technical expertise as an individual contributor focused on leading projects, optimizing processes, and leveraging specialized packaging knowledge across existing and new technologies.

Primary Duties

• Create and enhance a variety of product containers and packaging designs.
• Set packaging specifications guided by product needs, cost constraints, relevant laws and regulations, and protection criteria.
• Evaluate packaging resilience against environmental factors such as moisture, corrosive substances, temperature fluctuations, light exposure, heat, mechanical stress, and tampering risks.
• Develop packaging exterior designs emphasizing product identification, attractiveness, brand consistency, print standards, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Support and maintain packaging documentation including controlled records complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Contribute to prototype line development and packaging operations in manufacturing or plant settings.
• Lead or oversee technical projects from concept design to deployment, coordinating closely with various functional teams to fulfill project objectives.
• Spot and implement improvements in packaging workflows, systems, product designs, and overall performance metrics.
• Conduct thorough technical analyses and offer recommendations to resolve issues and enhance processes.
• Establish cooperative partnerships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, suppliers, and senior management.
• Mentor and train junior staff by sharing technical insights and guidance.
• Manage project tasks via delegation, reviewing outputs, and monitoring progress toward goals when applicable.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Between 6 and 10 or more years of relevant experience in packaging engineering or a closely related field.
• Background in packaging design, manufacturing, and process development is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to operate independently and manage responsibilities without direct supervision.
