Product Development Scientist I

About the Role

Join the R&D team at Transitions Optical in Tuam, Co. Galway, as a Product Development Scientist I. You will spearhead the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and methods focused on developing innovative photochromic coating products. Operating within a global, cross-functional team, you will contribute to problem-solving, technology transfer, and industrialization to bring products to manufacturing and commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply fundamental technology principles to design and conduct experiments in formulation and process development.
• Analyze experimental data to make informed, data-driven decisions and perform root cause analyses to resolve technical challenges.
• Build collaborative partnerships within your function and cross-functional teams, effectively communicating and influencing decisions to support long-term strategies.
• Take calculated risks, anticipate the impact of decisions on others, and incorporate feedback to refine your approach and development plans.
• Document work thoroughly through reports, papers, and presentations with minimal need for editing and maintain open communication channels.
• Engage proactively with senior managers and subject matter experts, seeking guidance and contributing to departmental improvements using your technical knowledge.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess an Honours Bachelor's Degree (Level 8, HETAC) in a relevant discipline, accompanied by at least one year of industry experience.
• Demonstrate strong hands-on laboratory skills and experience in process development.
• Exhibit adaptability to change directions when necessary and uphold a strong, positive work ethic.
• Work effectively both independently and collaboratively, fostering strong professional work relationships.
• Manage time efficiently to meet objectives.
