About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer specializing in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL based in Dubai. This full-time onsite role involves designing and optimizing enterprise-scale databases and data warehouse solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, and operational systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, test, and maintain comprehensive database and data warehousing systems.
- Create and refine stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and complex SQL statements.
- Construct data warehouse models and design ETL/ELT workflows integrating multiple data sources, ensuring high data integrity and quality.
- Implement performance enhancements including tuning queries, indexing, partitioning, and managing high-volume workloads.
- Automate data engineering tasks with Python and PySpark to streamline workflows.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, BI teams, and support units to turn business needs into practical and scalable technical solutions.
- Oversee deployment processes and conduct thorough code reviews.
- Provide 24/7 production support including incident handling, problem resolution, and root cause analysis for critical applications.
- Mentor junior team members and lead technical projects and best practice initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience in database development with at least 5 years focused on Oracle SQL/PLSQL.
- Expertise in Amazon Redshift and AWS services such as S3, Glue, and EMR, with strong knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT methodologies.
- Practical experience using Python and PySpark for data processing and automation.
- Knowledge of BI tools including Power BI, MicroStrategy, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and proficient use of Git or other version control systems.
- Experience in the airline or aviation sector, particularly with passenger name records, bookings, passenger data, revenue, or flight information is highly desirable.
- Leadership skills with prior experience mentoring junior developers or spearheading technical initiatives are a plus.
