Senior Oracle & Database Engineer

About the Role

Gateworth Group is partnering with a leading Technology Consultancy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, seeking a seasoned database expert to oversee Oracle, Exadata, SQL Server, and MySQL systems. This position demands a hands-on professional skilled in performance tuning, ensuring high availability, database security, and managing enterprise-grade database operations. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with the Database Manager to enhance operational standards, enforce governance, and promote continual improvement in critical system environments.

Primary Duties

• Administer and optimize Oracle databases deployed on OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate technologies.
• Lead performance enhancement projects involving SQL query optimization, indexing techniques, and resolving bottlenecks.
• Set up and sustain disaster recovery and high-availability configurations for Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL databases.
• Manage backup and recovery operations utilizing RMAN, transaction log management, binary backups, and point-in-time recovery methods.
• Enforce secure database configurations including role-based access control, encryption, auditing, and advanced security features.
• Architect and implement scalable database structures spanning Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase platforms.
• Handle Exadata system operations such as storage cell configurations, intelligent storage pool management, and InfiniBand network optimization.
• Develop automation scripts aimed at simplifying administration tasks and boosting operational efficiency.
• Continuously monitor database health, availability, and performance through advanced monitoring solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex challenges including performance declines, replication issues, and data corruption incidents.
• Participate in database change management encompassing change windows planning, rollback strategy formulation, system testing, and stakeholder communication.
• Contribute to the creation and enforcement of governance frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and assist in policy formulation.
• Maintain awareness of the latest database technologies, market trends, and best practices concerning security.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of seven years in Oracle DBA roles with strong practical experience.
• Comprehensive expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate technologies.
• Proven track record in database migration projects, performance tuning, and designing solutions with high availability.
• Solid experience managing SQL Server and MySQL database environments.
• Deep understanding of database security including encryption, auditing, and access control mechanisms.
• Capability to diagnose and resolve intricate issues in enterprise database scenarios.
• Strong skills in designing scalable, secure, and high-performance database systems.
• Experience in scripting and automation to enhance operational workflows.
• Excellent communication abilities and proficiency in managing relationships with various stakeholders.
