About the Role
Meltwater is a global frontrunner in media intelligence and social listening solutions, enabling organizations to make decisions grounded in actionable data insights. Our Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) team plays a vital role in upholding the precision and quality of data that fuels our AI systems, collaborating closely with machine learning to deliver exceptional media intelligence services. We are looking for a highly detail-focused and analytical Senior Media Analyst to join this team in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This position involves thorough research and validation of journalist information, content annotation, deep company and event data research, and maintaining comprehensive accuracy across our databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive research to verify journalist details, such as affiliations, contact info, areas of coverage, and recent articles, ensuring information is accurate via cross-verification from multiple sources.
- Constantly follow media outlets, news platforms, and social media to track journalist activities, updates, and current trends within the journalism sector.
- Regularly update and improve journalist profiles and company databases with current and validated information.
- Independently review, interpret, and tag online business news with correct classifications and relevant metadata, ensuring high-quality annotations.
- Assess the validity of news article data, evaluate publisher credibility, and apply established research best practices.
- Gather and analyze firmographic details through comprehensive market and company research, including identifying CEOs, revenue figures, employee numbers, foundation dates, and ownership structures.
- Validate and classify significant business events like funding rounds, mergers and acquisitions, leadership shifts, and new product launches; author company and event summaries and contribute to user-facing communications and alerts.
- Detect and rectify inconsistencies or errors across journalist, content, and corporate datasets, contributing suggestions to improve annotation frameworks and research approaches.
- Manage and resolve product support queries related to user entitlements and privacy matters, ensuring prompt and policy-compliant resolutions.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- Have between 2 to 4 years of experience in roles involving media research, journalism, data analysis, or content operations.
- Understand media industry dynamics and maintain knowledge of journalist networks.
- Skilled in using search engines, media-specific databases, and social media platforms to conduct research.
- Previous experience in media research or journalism and familiarity with data analysis is advantageous.
- Experience with annotation tools and content management systems is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Capable of interpreting large datasets and handling multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communicative and presentation skills, combined with teamwork abilities.
- Sharp analytical mindset with a meticulous approach to detail.
- Adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced, data-centric work environment.
- Prior exposure to HITL workflows and annotation methodologies is preferred.
