About the Role
Join a prestigious engineering consultancy based in Derby, known for their work within highly regulated sectors, including nuclear and defence. This Senior Mechanical Engineer / Senior CAD Design Engineer role offers the opportunity to work on pioneering projects that demand innovative and technically challenging engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop engineering solutions that meet client and project specifications.
- Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
- Evaluate and refine existing mechanical designs to improve performance and manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to progress designs from concept to finished product.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on technical matters.
- Present and communicate design concepts and decisions effectively to stakeholders.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior-level mechanical design engineering role.
- Strong mechanical engineering expertise and ability to coordinate with mechanical teams.
- Awareness of manufacturing constraints and considerations within the product design cycle.
- Experience in regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, aerospace, or related sectors is highly beneficial.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or equivalent.
- Familiar with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Holds an engineering degree or has equivalent professional experience.
- Practical knowledge of relevant safety and compliance standards applicable to the sector.
