Role Summary
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will operate within a technically advanced, cooperative team environment focusing on the design and deployment of automated machinery. This role entails leadership in designing complex automation equipment and guiding projects through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the design team to interpret customer needs into innovative automation concepts.
- Create 3D models of mechatronic systems including transfer mechanisms, servo and robotic systems, pneumatics, electrical components, and safety guarding systems.
- Engage directly in the assembly and testing phases to verify design performance criteria.
- Manage comprehensive projects, coordinating cross-functional teams throughout all project stages.
- Provide expert guidance to machine technicians during the build phase to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Focus on meeting customer objectives effectively through design and process enhancements.
- Prepare intricate tooling blueprints and pneumatic layouts.
- Coordinate supplier interactions for sourcing required components.
- Maintain communication with clients regarding specification clarifications and project milestones.
- Conduct thorough safety risk evaluations and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Develop documentation to comply with European Union standards.
- Ensure timely delivery and adherence to project deadlines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally within the team regarding technical issues and project status on a daily basis.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree-level education in an appropriate engineering field.
- At least four years of relevant experience, including key responsibilities in automation project design validation, installation, and commissioning.
- Proven extensive background in machine design roles.
- Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software, especially SolidWorks.
- Strong communication skills for effective technical dialogue and daily updates.
- Self-motivated with high attention to accuracy and a proactive approach to achieving project goals and deadlines.
- A keen interest in evolving automation technologies and engineering advancements.
- Experience in project management is considered a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and an innovative mindset.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
