Design Engineer

About the Role

SciPro is assisting a Medical Device company in recruiting an experienced Design Engineer specializing in production tooling and fixture design. The selected candidate will create comprehensive CAD designs for manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and components, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, New Product Development (NPD), and quality assurance teams to effectively transition designs from development to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Create precise 2D and 3D CAD models for tooling, fixtures, mechanical parts, assemblies, and structures.
• Engineer complex production fixtures focusing on manufacturability, safety, reliability, performance, cost-effectiveness, and material selection.
• Evaluate engineering concepts and specifications, offering design recommendations and detecting potential manufacturing challenges.
• Detect and address design errors, gaps, or shortcomings, suggesting necessary enhancements throughout validation processes.
• Handle Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), including preparing technical justifications and reviewing revised drawings and layouts.
• Ensure all drawings and design documentation comply with relevant standards, specifications, and internal protocols.
• Guide engineering teams on CAD software usage, drawing conventions, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and crucial design dimensions.
• Maintain and safeguard CAD Product Data Management (PDM) system integrity.
• Collaborate efficiently with teams from NPD, manufacturing operations, process, and quality engineering.
• Prepare and deliver design presentations to both internal departments and external parties.
• Assist in troubleshooting activities and apply necessary design modifications.
• Utilize rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing and CNC machining to aid design validation and progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in design engineering.
• An Associate's degree or equivalent certification in a pertinent engineering or technical field is beneficial.
• Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD platforms including Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
