Job Summary

The Senior Marine Pilot will be responsible for executing safe, professional, and efficient pilotage operations for vessels at JCPDI Port, Saudi Aramco facilities, and the Single Point Mooring (SPM), adhering strictly to regulatory standards, Harbour Master Instructions, and company safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage pilotage activities including vessel arrivals, departures, shifting, berthing, and unberthing within designated port and offshore areas.
• Offer expert navigation guidance to vessel Masters and bridge personnel to ensure secure vessel movement within port limits.
• Analyze environmental conditions such as weather, tides, currents, and navigational hazards to inform safe operational decisions.
• Develop and convey navigation and berthing plans in collaboration with vessel and tug Masters, mooring teams, and relevant authorities.
• Direct tug operations and mooring processes during vessel handling activities.
• Maintain robust communication with VTS, port authorities, terminal operators, and vessel teams throughout all operations.
• Ensure adherence to all maritime regulations, Harbour Master Instructions, and internal procedures.
• Maintain thorough records and reports of pilotage operations in compliance with company standards.
• Engage in incident investigations, safety briefings, emergency drills, and actively promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Mentor junior pilots and contribute to continuous improvements in marine safety, operational effectiveness, and customer service quality.
• Participate in a 24/7 operational schedule, being available for pilotage duties according to operational requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a Master Mariner Class 1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency and valid medical fitness certification.
• Completion of IMO Resolution A.960 Pilot Training or a recognized equivalent pilot training program.
• At least 10 years of marine pilot experience across harbour, tanker, offshore, and SPM operations, preferably within major commercial, industrial ports, or oil and gas terminals.
• Comprehensive understanding of ship handling, tug management, bridge resource management, pilotage best practices, and modern navigation tools such as ECDIS and radar systems.
• Experience working in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia, with familiarity of VTS, port management systems, container, and bulk cargo terminals.
• English language fluency is mandatory; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
• Certification or training in Bridge Resource Management and Human Factors.
• Exemplary leadership, decision-making abilities, situational awareness, and risk evaluation skills.
