About the Role
This senior leadership position within ASB Bank's Corporate Analytics team focuses on overseeing the performance and development of the bank's corporate credit risk models, specifically non-retail IFRS9 and IRB models. The role ensures these models maintain robustness, suitability, and compliance with regulatory standards while supporting the bank's business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monitoring of model performance and assessments ensuring models are fit for purpose across the corporate credit risk model suite.
- Drive initiatives related to regulatory changes and the implementation of new models.
- Enhance and automate processes for model monitoring.
- Support the migration to modern data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
- Interpret complex model outputs and translate them into clear business insights.
- Analyze new trends to influence strategic decisions.
- Represent the bank on Group committees overseeing model governance, development, and validation.
- Collaborate across technology, data, and business units to uplift model and data capabilities.
- Lead and mentor team members fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Candidate Profile
- Proven background in developing and monitoring IRB and IFRS9 credit risk models.
- Over seven years experience in credit risk management, analytics, or reporting.
- At least three years experience in people leadership roles.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and APRA or RBNZ prudential standards.
- Strong skills in mathematics, statistics, or quantitative analysis.
- Experience working with large datasets and generating actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in SAS and/or SQL.
- Exposure to data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills allowing simplification of complex technical information.
- Strong relationship-building ability and confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders.
