Role Overview
The Senior Manager, External Manufacturing MSM Operations plays a critical role within the Surgical Vision Supply Chain team. This leader is responsible for spearheading productivity initiatives, managing material supply, and ensuring uninterrupted supply chain operations. The position involves cross-functional collaboration across Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, Delivery, IT, Quality, Regulatory, and External Manufacturing to enhance reliability and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a productivity and materials supply management team, establishing priorities and accountability.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high-performing culture among internal staff and external manufacturing partners.
- Drive supply chain productivity projects aimed at reducing costs, optimizing inventory, and enhancing operational processes within the Surgical Vision external manufacturing network.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
- Oversee the management of the external manufacturing raw material supply network to guarantee reliable material flow aligned with production needs.
- Lead governance and resolution of supply constraints, supplier challenges, inventory risks, and capacity issues affecting external manufacturing.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate supply chain risks, maintaining high risk visibility and enforcing mitigation strategies.
- Manage escalation processes and rapid responses to minimize disruptions, ensure compliance, and resolve root causes effectively.
- Support strategic supply chain initiatives through project management office functions, including planning, performance tracking, and executive communication.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations. Advanced degrees such as MBA or MS highly desirable.
- At least 8 years of experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or similar regulated sectors.
- Track record of leading complex cross-functional programs and issue resolution teams.
- Strong project and program management expertise, including risk assessment and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to influence in matrix environments without direct authority.
- Experience in root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in fast-paced settings.
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes including planning, sourcing, manufacturing, delivery, and external manufacturing.
- Preferred experience in Operations, Technical Operations, Quality, or Planning roles.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification and Project Management certification (e.g., PMI) are advantageous.
- Experience working with global, multicultural, and virtual teams.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this role in Ireland is between €85,000 and €146,050 annually. In addition to base pay, employees may receive annual bonuses based on individual and company performance. Comprehensive benefits include vacation, parental leave (minimum 12 weeks), bereavement leave, caregiver leave, volunteer leave, wellness reimbursements, and various insurance plans for employees and eligible dependents.
