Senior Manager Data Science

Overview

As Senior Manager of Data Science at Traveloka based in Singapore, you will oversee the Platform Data Analytics team accountable for payment performance, fraud prevention, bot defense, cross-sell optimization, user journey analytics, search and recommendations, UGC integrity, and more. This role requires bridging data analytics, rigorous experimentation, and advanced machine learning including large language models to scale platform capabilities and enable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers to foster technical excellence and impactful business results.
• Advance platform-wide data analytics and design robust A/B testing frameworks to assess product features, user journeys, and system modifications.
• Manage the development and deployment of ML, deep learning, and GenAI/LLM-based applications across platform domains.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations leadership to convert business objectives into scalable data science strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytics, including at least 3 years leading high-performing Data Science/ML teams in tech or e-commerce.
• Strong background in data analytics and A/B testing, with proven success in leveraging data insights to drive business improvements.
• Hands-on production experience with gradient-boosted trees and anomaly detection on large, imbalanced datasets; accountable for models with tangible business impact regarding false positives.
• Experience developing and critically evaluating LLM/GenAI applications such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or agentic systems, including methods to measure their effectiveness.

Preferred Skills & Education

• Familiarity with the OTA (online travel agency) or marketplace domains, including fraud and abuse prevention, user analytics, and payment systems.
• Knowledge of graph-based techniques like graph neural networks and entity linkage relevant for detecting fraud rings or coordinated abuse.
• Advanced academic degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related disciplines is highly favored.
