Role Overview

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Content Platform is pivotal in enhancing Roku’s content knowledge platform, which feeds critical downstream systems such as Search, Recommendations, Ads, and Voice interfaces. This role involves designing cutting-edge machine learning solutions incorporating Generative AI and Vision Models to improve content quality and user engagement on a massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain next-generation content knowledge platforms and algorithms that deliver exceptional experiences to millions of Roku users.
• Design advanced machine learning models for entity resolution, data deduplication, and Generative AI tasks like content summarization and improving metadata quality.
• Build deep learning models targeting data quality validation, visual similarity scoring, and content tagging.
• Implement frameworks to monitor key performance indicators and assess model quality and impact, including those leveraging Generative AI.
• Create user-centric products meeting rigorous performance, security, and stability standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A minimum of seven years' experience deploying machine learning and generative AI techniques to solve large-scale, real-world problems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals with algorithm design expertise.
• Extensive knowledge of machine learning approaches such as deep generative models (GANs, VAEs), transformers, tree-based algorithms, and sequence models.
• Proficiency with NLP models like BERT, GPT, and expertise in vision models including ResNet, EfficientNet, and CLIP.
• Experience with big data environments and frameworks (Spark, Kafka, EMR, Flink, Airflow) and programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.
• Proven track record of building and deploying in-production machine learning systems, including pipelines based on Generative AI and vision models.
• Insight into system architectures and scalable streaming data pipelines.
• Advanced degrees: MS required in Computer Science, Statistics, or related disciplines; Ph.D. preferred.
