Key Responsibilities

• Co-lead the design and strategic development of the MaaS platform collaboratively with the Principal Architect, documenting decisions rigorously and guiding technology trade-offs.
• Manage the inference gateway and API interface, ensuring compatibility with major AI model formats like OpenAI and Anthropic, supporting advanced features such as streaming, tool invocation, and structured outputs.
• Enhance system performance by optimizing token processing speeds, caching layers, and latency metrics, maintaining high standards especially during peak loads.
• Develop a globally distributed platform architecture with robust failover capabilities, enforcing strict service-level objectives based on real-world performance data.
• Implement stringent security measures enforcing multi-tenant isolation, secure API key and OAuth management, and proactive abuse and rate limit controls treating all inputs as untrusted.
• Build reliable metering and billing infrastructure ensuring accurate, idempotent counting of token usage with a high-volume ledger that integrates seamlessly with invoicing.
• Oversee platform upgrades safely through incremental deployment strategies, ensuring thorough observability and rigorous logging hygiene respecting user privacy.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 8 years of backend engineering, including at least 3 years leading a high-scale, multi-tenant API platform serving paying customers.
• Proven skills in scaling distributed systems with multi-region active-active deployment, caching, backpressure handling, and complex performance tuning to reduce costs.
• Strong expertise in Go programming, production Kubernetes environment management (including Envoy proxy and GPU-aware scheduling), and working knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka.
• Experience in observability implementation using tools like OpenTelemetry and handling high-cardinality data analytics.
• Deep understanding of large language model serving including stream processing, caching trade-offs, and building reliable metering/billing systems handling billions of events with fault tolerance.
• Ability to design and enforce multi-tenant security policies with fail-safe authorization, verified identity management, and strict isolation.
• Operational maturity with experience in on-call duties, incident management, and continuous improvement based on outage analysis.
