Job description
About the Role
Join an expert R&D group focused on developing Intellectual Property (IP) cores for advanced microcontrollers and microprocessors. This team creates networking switch and controller IP (NETC) supporting the latest Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards, foundational for NXP's newest microcontrollers, processors, and switches. These IPs underpin products generating billions annually. The chips you help verify are likely embedded in vehicles, smart home devices, and industrial manufacturing systems.
Within AI and Chip Engineering (ACE), a key central design division at NXP, the team supports products across Automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), Networking, and Radio Frequency sectors, covering hardware from architecture through full SoC design.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify state-of-the-art Ethernet/networking IP for integration into next-generation SoCs targeting automotive, industrial, and edge computing.
- Architect, design, and implement UVM-based Verification for hardware IP and SoC products.
- Conduct detailed trade-off analyses between performance and complexity.
- Collaborate closely with IP architecture, design, and verification teams to ensure timely delivery and top quality.
- Document all project phases thoroughly, including detailed functional and implementation specs for IP.
- Create both directed and constrained-random verification tests.
- Debug failing tests to diagnose root causes and collaborate with engineers to resolve defects.
- Analyze functional and code coverage metrics, adjusting tests or constraints as needed to meet coverage goals.
- Champion continuous improvement in design and verification processes and methodologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience working on IP and SoC products.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM verification methodologies.
- Strong grasp of IP and SoC development processes and verification tooling.
- Proficient with EDA and scripting tools such as Python, TCL, Perl, Makefile, and Shell for building verification environments.
- Experience designing and executing comprehensive Design Verification infrastructures.
- Familiarity with revision control systems, particularly Git.
- Understanding of hardware and software design trade-offs.
- Results-driven with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Background in algorithm development.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical documentation capabilities.
- Effective collaborator and dynamic team contributor.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Formal and Functional Safety Verification methodologies.
- Understanding of advanced networking technologies, including TCP/IP protocols.
- Experience working with data networking products such as routers, bridges, and switches.
- Familiarity with security and cryptography concepts.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual base salary for this position in Canada ranges from 110600 to 152000 CAD. Total compensation may vary according to qualifications, skills, location, and other factors.
