Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Hydrologist to join our expanding Hydrogeology and Hydrology team in Western Canada. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert technical leadership on diverse hydrology projects serving mining, energy, infrastructure, and resource development sectors. You will lead hydrological investigations, design monitoring programs, perform water balance evaluations, and contribute to project delivery along with client engagement and practice growth. A key component is mentoring junior colleagues and participating in business development while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective water resource strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct hydrological assessments in mining, infrastructure, and resource-related initiatives
• Offer expert advice on hydrologic processes influencing project planning, design, and operational decisions
• Plan and oversee hydrometric and monitoring programs inclusive of field data acquisition, instrumentation setup, and data system management aligned with provincial guidelines
• Lead hydrologic modeling and water balance analyses to inform predictive planning and operational decision-making
• Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of hydrology deliverables including reports, modeling, and regulatory submissions
• Support Environmental Flow Needs evaluations and develop flow recommendations for environmental assessments and water management purposes
• Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and client interaction; contribute to proposal development and business growth efforts
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff supporting their technical and professional development
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to identify hydrologic risks, constraints, and opportunities within projects

Qualifications

• At least 10 years’ progressive experience in hydrology or water resource roles, ideally within consulting
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geoscience, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Engineering, or a related field
• Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) or eligible for immediate registration
• Extensive expertise leading hydrologic investigations, monitoring, and modeling initiatives
• Strong background in water balance studies applied to natural and developed environments
• Proven competence in managing project delivery including budgeting, scheduling, and maintaining client relationships
• Exceptional technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Experience mentoring junior technical personnel
• Familiarity with provincial and federal water resource regulatory frameworks
• Willingness to travel for fieldwork and client meetings

• Competitive and comprehensive compensation package including benefits, vacation, and wellness programs
• Salary range for this position is $125,000 to $155,000, with final pay depending on qualifications, experience, and location
