Job description
Overview
The Senior Geophysicist Manager oversees geophysical research and seismic data analysis to support hydrocarbon exploration, appraisal, and field development operations. This position offers technical guidance on prospect generation, reservoir evaluation, seismic data acquisition, and processing alongside the management of a multidisciplinary geoscience team.
Key Duties
- Lead interpretation and analysis of 2D, 3D, and 4D seismic datasets.
- Discover and advance exploration prospects and drilling opportunities.
- Execute seismic attribute analysis including AVO (Amplitude Versus Offset), inversion techniques, and reservoir characterization.
- Support drilling activities for exploration, appraisal, and development phases.
- Coordinate seismic acquisition, processing, and reprocessing initiatives.
- Integrate geophysical, geological, petrophysical, and reservoir information to enhance subsurface understanding.
- Guide and mentor geophysicists and other geoscientists within the team.
- Contribute to reserves assessment, field development planning, and evaluation of assets.
- Offer expert technical advice to senior leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related specialty.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 15 years working experience in upstream oil and gas sectors.
- Demonstrable track record in exploration and development project involvement.
- Proven capability in leadership and managing key project stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
- Proficient in seismic interpretation across 2D, 3D, and 4D data.
- Experienced in AVO analysis techniques.
- Skilled in seismic inversion applications.
- Knowledgeable in structural and stratigraphic interpretation.
- Adept in reservoir characterization methodologies.
- Expertise in prospect generation and risk evaluation.
- Competent in software tools such as Petrel, Kingdom, DecisionSpace, and Hampson Russell.
