Role Overview

The Forward Deployed AI Scientist in Operations & Optimization acts as a pivotal part of multidisciplinary teams including consultants, operations specialists, AI engineers, and client stakeholders. You will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, optimization, and simulation methods to tackle complex operational problems, co-design and deploy AI solutions that enhance performance, resilience, and cost-efficiency while enabling sustainable transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end analytics processes from business problem framing to algorithm development, scalable deployment, and organizational adoption of AI technologies.
• Collaborate closely with diverse teams to build custom and industry-leading AI solutions tailored to operational challenges.
• Translate technical insights into meaningful business outcomes and strategic impact.

Candidate Profile and Skills

• Hands-on experience applying data science, machine learning, optimization, or simulation to solve sophisticated business problems.
• Deep understanding of modern analytics and machine learning techniques with ability to connect findings to business results.
• Expertise in Operations & Optimization disciplines, including solving issues related to supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, inventory control, or workforce planning.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python; familiarity with optimization frameworks like Gurobi, OR-Tools, or Pyomo is advantageous.
• Effective communicator with ability to present complex analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable engaging in client-facing roles and managing collaboration among multiple stakeholders in diverse teams.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative fields. Academic certificates required.
• Fluent in both German and English, with excellent oral and written skills (C1/C2 proficiency).
