Job Overview
This role is offered on behalf of a partner company based in Australia seeking a Senior Data Engineer specializing in mobile applications. The position involves creating and managing dependable data infrastructure crucial for marketing, payment processing, product analytics, and informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain robust data pipelines that facilitate daily reports, attribution assessments, lifetime value (LTV) analytics, and other essential business functions.
- Import and transform datasets from advertising platforms, payment gateways, and product backends into modern Databricks cloud environments.
- Manage scheduled data workflows through Apache Airflow, ensuring timely and accurate completion of vital tasks.
- Keep silver and gold data tables precise and reliable while enforcing comprehensive data quality checks and continuous monitoring.
- Promptly identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in data pipelines and production, including meeting deadlines for failed daily job recoveries.
- Enhance processes, implement new tools, and refine data solutions to boost operational effectiveness and adapt to changing business demands.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Analytics, Marketing, Data Science, Product, and Engineering—to capture requirements and determine the best technical strategies.
- Efficiently prioritize multiple tasks ensuring the highest standards of data integrity, reliability, and timely delivery.
- Contribute to advancing data engineering methodologies and practices within an agile development framework.
- Understand the business implications of data including marketing expenditures, subscription models, payment performance, and attribution mechanics.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in data engineering with significant hands-on experience in Python, SQL, Apache Spark, and Databricks.
- Proficient with Databricks features like Unity Catalog and Delta Lake.
- Experience in orchestrating workflows and scheduled pipelines using Apache Airflow in production environments.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services, especially Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery.
- Strong analytical capabilities coupled with a systematic approach for solving complex technical problems.
- Experience assuming full responsibility for production data environments including monitoring, alerts, incident management, and data quality assurance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively across diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
- Advanced command of English, both written and spoken, suitable for an international and multicultural working environment.
- Comfortable working with agile methodologies and juggling multiple projects simultaneously without diminishing quality.
- A curious mindset about the commercial context behind the data, particularly around marketing budgets, subscription services, payments, and attribution modeling.
