About the Role

Blue Light Card is seeking a passionate Android developer to join their newly formed cross-functional team. The company is completing an exciting technology transition to a modern, serverless system, setting the stage for innovative new projects aimed at enhancing the app experience. This role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to innovative mobile solutions that greatly benefit their users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop robust and user-friendly mobile apps with clear, maintainable code.
  • Participate actively in the mobile development community and promote best practices across the wider team.
  • Collaborate closely on solution design ensuring both functional and non-functional requirements align with company architectural standards.
  • Engage in code reviews and maintain high coding standards through clean, testable programming practices.
  • Work alongside product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver features that support the product’s goals.
  • Create and maintain unit and UI tests to improve code quality and user experience.
  • Identify and troubleshoot bugs and performance issues.
  • Support automated build, testing, and deployment workflows to enable smooth release cycles.
  • Document technical requirements, system specifications, and architectural decisions to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong expertise in Kotlin along with building modern user interfaces using Jetpack Compose.
  • Proficient in dependency injection using Koin and knowledge of Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) for sharing business logic.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control, GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment, and Firebase Crashlytics for monitoring app performance.
  • Familiarity with analytics and engagement platforms such as Amplitude, Braze for push notifications and in-app messaging, and Stripe for payment integration.
  • Hands-on experience using Firebase App Distribution for managing pre-release testing phases.
  • Understanding of or experience implementing server-driven UI concepts to create adaptable and dynamic app designs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and team culture.
