Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in Newmarket. Reporting to the Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager, you will be instrumental in delivering precise and timely financial reports, offering expert technical accounting guidance, and enhancing compliance and governance practices throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Compile financial statements, management reports, disclosure notes, and compliance documentation.
• Provide technical accounting advice and aid in adopting new accounting and reporting standards.
• Coordinate external audits and address queries from various stakeholders.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations ensuring robust financial control systems.
• Oversee tax compliance processes including Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) and assist with R&D tax credits.
• Contribute to climate-related and sustainability reporting requirements.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and ongoing improvement initiatives within Finance.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented accountant with strong technical skills who thrives in complex environments that value precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement. You will be adept at handling multiple priorities, interpreting accounting standards, and developing trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Although experience in a Big 4 firm is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, audit, or financial reporting roles.
• Solid expertise in preparing statutory and management financial reports.
• Thorough understanding of IFRS and financial reporting obligations.
• Audit or assurance experience, either from practice or industry.
• Capacity to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable advice.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office suite.

Experience in infrastructure, utilities, technology, or other asset-heavy sectors is a plus, as is familiarity with ERP systems like Infor.
