About the Role and Company
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Estimator to join our dynamic team in Columbia, SC. This permanent position plays a vital role in our construction operations, focusing on cost analysis and project management throughout diverse design-build projects. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret two-dimensional construction drawings to determine project requirements accurately
- Utilize BlueBeam and similar industry tools to create detailed, precise cost estimates
- Evaluate costs related to labor, equipment, and other construction needs to develop thorough and reliable estimates
- Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs), monitor bid submissions, and coordinate closely with project managers to meet project objectives
- Draft written proposals and present these to clients and relevant stakeholders
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to secure advantageous terms for the organization
- Leverage building construction expertise to establish feasible timelines and budgets
- Collaborate with the team to ensure projects are executed on schedule and within the planned budget
Desired Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in construction estimation, ideally with senior-level responsibilities
- Experienced in using BlueBeam or an equivalent software tool
- Background in base building construction projects
- Strong ability to interpret two-dimensional technical drawings
- Proficient in managing RFQs, bid tracking, and working alongside project management
- Effective negotiation skills backed by a history of accurate cost estimation
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, labor, and equipment expenses
- Experience in preparing and delivering proposals to clients and stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Capability to thrive under demanding deadlines in a fast-moving work environment
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline preferred
