Job description
About Ambiq
Ambiq is focused on delivering ultra-low-power semiconductor solutions utilizing proprietary sub- and near-threshold technologies. By 2025, Ambiq has shipped over 280 million units globally, supporting AI computing at edge devices with a significant reduction in power consumption without relying on advanced manufacturing nodes. The company operates globally across the US, Taiwan, China, and Singapore, fostering a culture of innovation, customer focus, collaboration, and energy-efficient technology development.
Role Overview
As a Senior Embedded Graphics Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and testing of the AmbiqSuite SDK on Ambiq SoCs and emulation platforms, concentrating on the GPU Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and graphics stack for Ambiq’s mainstream and upcoming microcontroller units (MCUs). Working within a global MCU software development team, you will collaborate closely with senior graphics software developers and be involved in extending the SDK to new MCU families, enhancing features, and maintaining existing platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Work jointly with senior graphics developers to design and implement the HAL and graphics APIs for embedded GPUs in Ambiq MCUs.
- Develop and maintain the complete graphics software stack, including GPU and display HAL layers.
- Create example applications and test cases to demonstrate and validate graphics functionalities.
- Participate actively in GPU pre-silicon verification on FPGA platforms and support post-silicon bring-up, system validation, and debugging activities.
- Provide technical assistance to design verification teams, system validation, field engineers, and customers as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) or Computer Science with 4+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Deep expertise in at least one embedded GPU IP, thorough understanding of the graphics pipeline, and hands-on experience developing HAL and graphics software stacks.
- Familiarity with OpenGL ES or other 3D graphics APIs.
- Preferred experience with graphics frameworks such as LVGL.
- Preferred experience with vector graphics acceleration or software libraries.
- Knowledge of embedded display interfaces like MIPI DSI, DBI, DPI, or Memory-In-Pixel technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of ARM architectures, especially Cortex-M microcontroller cores.
- Strong conceptual knowledge of embedded RTOS, with preference for Zephyr and FreeRTOS experience.
- Proficiency in embedded MCU programming using C and assembly on ARM Cortex-M processors, utilizing IDEs such as ARM, Keil, IAR, Eclipse, or O-zone.
- Hands-on expertise with lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for embedded debugging.
- Experience using collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Competence with version control systems, specifically git.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and automated testing principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex hardware/software debug scenarios.
- Experience with scripting languages; Python experience is desirable.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
