Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

We seek a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in secondary substation design to join a premier Australian engineering and infrastructure firm. The role primarily involves working on substations operating between 66kV and 500kV, focusing on protection, control, relay coordination, SCADA/RTU integration, and protection logic. The work location is Sydney preferred, but candidates from the East Coast are also considered.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead secondary design projects for high voltage substations from 66kV to 500kV
• Create and implement protection and control schemes, relay coordination, and protection philosophies
• Manage SCADA/RTU integration, interlocking systems, and protection logic
• Conduct design verification, carry out technical reviews, and provide engineering sign-offs
• Offer support for commissioning activities and resolve complex technical issues
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• At least 10 years of professional electrical engineering experience
• Extensive experience in substation secondary design
• Proficiency in protection, control, SCADA systems, and relay coordination
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and Network Service Provider requirements
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia
• Experience in checking and approving complex engineering designs
