Overview
Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team fuels critical cloud services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure by managing an extensive global network of over 200 datacenters across 32 countries, serving more than a billion users worldwide. Key Responsibilities
- Commit to ongoing learning and skill development in electrical engineering.
- Champion safety, security, and compliance within all datacenter operations.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical system installations and performance.
- Develop deep knowledge of datacenter electrical system design and functions.
- Provide 24/7 on-site support for datacenter operations and electrical infrastructure.
- Serve as the technical authority overseeing large-scale, critical electrical system design and operation onsite.
- Coordinate maintenance and safety protocols to uphold redundant and reliable electrical systems.
- Manage electrical infrastructure across datacenter campuses, including single and multiple facility sites.
- Act as a subject matter expert on high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including substations and backup power.
- Support design, troubleshooting, and continuous enhancements of mission-critical electrical systems.
- Lead root cause analyses and failure investigations to boost system reliability.
- Ensure electrical safety and regulatory compliance across all operations.
- Contribute to maintenance strategies, risk management, and reliability initiatives.
- Assist in transitioning new datacenter facilities into live operation through readiness assessments and testing plans.
- Develop, review, and execute commissioning, testing, and verification protocols for electrical infrastructure.
- Identify and escalate potential risks or issues affecting project or operational stability.
- Help develop monitoring and reporting tools to improve system visibility and performance.
- Participate in project tracking and execution under senior engineer leadership.
- Review and approve operational procedures including Emergency Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to systems and processes.
- Support audit, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated technically advanced engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline with proven technical expertise.
Additional Information
- Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check on hire and biennially thereafter.
- This role is located in Dublin, Ireland, with a full-time, onsite commitment.
- Typical salary range in Ireland: €77,400 to €130,000 per annum.
