Overview
Join Microsoft as a Data Center Technician based in Melbourne, working onsite to support hardware deployments and maintenance within our Data Centers. This role involves setting up equipment, conducting troubleshooting and diagnostics, and performing hardware decommissions for simple changes following established procedures. You'll gain deeper insight into Data Center operations, develop mentoring capabilities, and learn security and data management protocols while advancing your career.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting procedures to swiftly identify and repair faults while minimizing disruptions.
- Conduct thorough quality checks following hardware deployments to ensure compliance with safety and network design standards.
- Perform hardware removal and upgrades such as memory enhancements, adhering to standard protocols with limited supervision.
- Report and escalate incidents appropriately to relevant operations management and technical teams.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues on complex tasks.
- Complete role-specific training and gain practical experience by shadowing seasoned technicians.
- Foster a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, attending meetings, and maintaining awareness of team progress.
- Take ownership of service quality and facility management responsibilities.
- Reflect Microsoft’s core values and culture in daily work.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum education of High School Diploma or equivalent (TAFE), with foundational knowledge of computer hardware and components.
- At least 1 year of professional experience supporting IT hardware or related technologies including server management, networking equipment, cabling, and equipment installation.
- Must satisfy Microsoft's and governmental security screening processes including a background check upon hiring and biennially thereafter.
- Verification of Australian citizenship is required to comply with government security standards.
- Possibility of an enhanced security clearance through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 2 years of experience in IT equipment support or related fields.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
