Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role

We are in search of a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer to become a key member of our Enterprise Platforms Engineering team. The role involves architecting, constructing, and deploying software development environments that support internal tools and platform initiatives. Collaborating closely with engineering and technology units, this position ensures dependable and automated deployment for both applications and infrastructure while aligning with organizational IT, security, architectural, and engineering benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and automate CI/CD pipelines for development, staging, and production phases.
• Establish and uphold DevOps engineering guidelines and best practices.
• Discover and implement improvements for deployment reliability, uniformity, and automation.
• Create Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automate application deployment processes.
• Develop automation tools and scripts to support deployment and operational workflows.
• Steer project teams toward adherence to established architecture, security, and engineering protocols.
• Offer technical mentorship and encourage knowledge exchange across teams.
• Incorporate security controls and testing within DevOps workflows.
• Drive ongoing enhancements in application architecture, development, and delivery methods.
• Enhance system stability and recovery via monitoring, alerting, automation, and self-healing techniques.
• Advocate an engineering culture focused on automation-first approaches.
• Apply agile methodologies to maintain consistent and transparent delivery cycles.
• Oversee and support DevOps pipelines, collaborating on integrated delivery systems with development teams.
• Lead evaluations and implementations of technologies to close gaps in software build, testing, deployment, and scalability.
• Formulate governance mechanisms and tools to ensure compliance with technology standards and policies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in IT with a focus on hands-on DevOps engineering for complex environments.
• Proven record in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
• Solid practical knowledge of Linux systems, particularly Ubuntu.
• Expertise in Kubernetes and containerized technology environments.
• Experience working with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Comprehensive understanding of networking principles including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and related protocols.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar solutions.
• Competency with container and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Hands-on experience leveraging CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalents.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools including Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or others.
• Strong diagnostic skills to troubleshoot distributed computing systems.
• Experience with version control via Git and collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence.
• Comfortable working with APIs, command line interfaces, and SDKs.
• Exposure to API gateway platforms like NGINX or Apigee.
• Advanced scripting ability using Shell and Python.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Zabbix, ELK Stack, Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• Basic understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases including MongoDB, DynamoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of event-streaming frameworks like Kafka.
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Envoy.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience managing secrets with tools like Vault.
• Working knowledge of service-discovery and distributed coordination tools such as Consul, ZooKeeper, or etcd.
• Relevant professional certifications like RHCE, RHCSA, or Kubernetes certifications are advantageous.
