Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to take full responsibility for our infrastructure, deployment pipelines, server management, security protocols, monitoring systems, backup strategies, and operational dependability. This role goes beyond managing CI/CD pipelines or simple cloud provisioning; it encompasses ownership of the entire technical environment lifecycle — from initial architecture and server setup to security, deployment, continuous monitoring, disaster recovery, and ongoing system maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, provision, configure, and maintain both cloud-based and dedicated physical servers and infrastructure.
• Assess infrastructure needs and recommend optimal server and hosting arrangements tailored to business requirements.
• Provision new environments and ensure operating systems, networking, security controls, and services are correctly configured.
• Manage environments across development, testing/QA, staging, and production, ensuring adequate isolation, security, and repeatability.
• Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, tests, deployments, and rollbacks, focusing on reducing manual effort and enhancing reliability.
• Ensure server and network security including hardening, secure access control, secrets management, firewalls, role-based access, and vulnerability patching.
• Design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery plans, including automated backups, secure storage, retention policies, monitoring, and restoration testing.
• Set up and maintain monitoring for infrastructure and application health, including alerts for critical parameters, root cause analysis of incidents, and continuous reliability improvement.
• Champion infrastructure automation using Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code tools, fostering efficient, repeatable provisioning and deployment.
• Leverage knowledge of cloud infrastructures and networking principles including VPCs, DNS, load balancers, SSL/TLS, VPNs, CDNs, object storage, and network security for optimal architecture.

Candidate Profile

• Proactive and detail-oriented engineer who can independently translate high-level infrastructure needs into end-to-end, secure, automated solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with deep Linux server knowledge and a solid understanding of infrastructure beyond documentation.
• Excellent security awareness, with the ability to apply the principle of least privilege and safeguard production environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical infrastructure decisions clearly to both engineers and management.
• Disciplined and accountable with a commitment to operational excellence in a production environment.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years in professional DevOps, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
• Extensive Linux administration and managing production-grade servers.
• Strong background with cloud platforms and production infrastructure management.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration.
• Deep understanding of networking fundamentals and advanced security/access management practices.
• Proven ability to design, maintain, and test backup and disaster recovery schemes.
• Experience with monitoring, logging systems, and incident analysis.
• Proficient in scripting and automation including strong Git version control usage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes platforms.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, and web servers such as Nginx.
• Knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and caching technology such as Redis.
• Experience with Cloudflare, CDN architectures, and object-based storage like S3.
• Understanding of performance tuning, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and managing high-volume or multi-region infrastructures.
