Junior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

The Junior Backend Engineer will actively participate in building, testing, and supporting dependable backend services and APIs that power the V-Thru platform. Working closely with senior engineers, you'll deliver well-defined software that meets high standards for quality, security, and performance, while growing your technical expertise and sense of ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop assigned backend features, enhancements, and bug fixes following team coding guidelines.
• Create and upkeep RESTful APIs and backend services guided by senior team members.
• Utilize the platform's data technologies like MySQL, MongoDB, Redis caching, RabbitMQ messaging, and Docker-based local environments, leveraging Doctrine ORM/ODM as needed.
• Ensure all code includes comprehensive unit and integration tests; consider test coverage necessary for task completion.
• Produce code that is easy to maintain, understand, and extend over time.
• Diagnose and resolve reported bugs by reproducing issues and contributing regression tests.
• Respond promptly to feedback from code reviews and static analysis tools.
• Follow engineering standards regarding code style, type safety, exception handling, database access, caching methods, testing protocols, security, and data privacy.
• Abide by secure coding and data protection practices when working with client and business data.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Solid grasp of fundamental computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and complexity.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, covering coding, testing, review, and deployment phases.
• Understanding of design principles like separation of concerns, DRY, and SOLID, and ability to work within these frameworks.
• Comfortable with at least one programming paradigm—object-oriented or functional—and able to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies.
• Basic experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Working knowledge of version control systems (especially Git), API design, and automated testing workflows.

Preferred (Not Mandatory) Qualifications

• Experience programming in PHP or Python.
• Familiarity with modern web frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel, Django, Rails, or Spring.
• Knowledge of containerized development environments, particularly Docker.
• Exposure to technologies like NoSQL databases (MongoDB), caching layers (Redis), or message-queuing systems (RabbitMQ).
• Experience with continuous integration/deployment pipelines and familiarity with e-commerce or payment processing integrations.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines preferred; hands-on experience may substitute.
• Between zero to two years of professional software development experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
