Senior DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at NinjaOne, you will be an integral member of the global Platform Engineering team, collaborating closely with colleagues in the US to manage production software deployments and lead the ongoing enhancement of our deployment platform. This role balances two key responsibilities: ensuring reliable and efficient production deployment processes and developing deployment automation to increase developer productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in production software deployments to ensure availability, stability, and consistent quality during releases.
• Collaborate with the US Platform Engineering team to share ownership of global deployment operations, maintaining continuous production environment support.
• Coordinate with multiple teams—including Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Release Management, and Security—to plan and execute software releases, maintenance, and emergency deployments with clear communication and readiness.
• Create and maintain deployment standards, rollback strategies, release processes, and operational documentation such as playbooks.
• Lead post-release evaluations to identify improvements that reduce risks and increase deployment reliability.
• Serve as technical escalation contact during complex or critical deployment activities.
• Design and build automated deployment solutions to improve speed, consistency, and reliability of software delivery.
• Develop reusable deployment frameworks, standardized workflows, and self-service tools for deployment.
• Drive Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) platform modernization initiatives, focusing on CircleCI and related technologies.
• Identify and eliminate repetitive operational tasks through automation and engineering initiatives.
• Continuously enhance deployment frequency, release quality, and engineering efficiency via process improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 5 to 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, Build & Release Engineering, or similar fields.
• Strong proficiency in supporting and automating cloud-based production software deployments.
• Expertise in developing enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with artifact repository management, including tools like JFrog Artifactory.
• Proficient in designing deployment automation, release orchestration, and streamlined software delivery workflows.
• Deep understanding of Git processes including workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, and release management.
• Strong scripting or programming skills in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
• Knowledge of integrating DevSecOps practices such as static and dynamic application security testing (SAST, DAST), software composition analysis (SCA), software bill of materials (SBOM) generation, secrets management, and policy enforcement.
• Experience with improving engineering productivity metrics like DORA indicators.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical disciplines is preferred.
