We prioritize employee wellbeing, flexible work arrangements, and offer generous leave benefits, creating opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. Role Overview
You will become a crucial member of BNZ’s Technology team focused on the Lending Platforms domain—a newly formed group aimed at enhancing the stability, resilience, security, and operational maturity of essential lending systems. This team operates across various platforms and integration services that power lending application processing and decision-making for both personal and business customers, with a primary emphasis on Secured Lending.
The broader business unit provides the technological foundation for key lending experiences and services available to BNZ customers. While these platforms undergo a journey of modernization and retirement, the team ensures they stay secure, reliable, compliant, and well-maintained in the interim.
Collaboration is critical, with close partnerships involving delivery, risk, data, vendors, and other technology teams aimed at elevating platform health, bolstering production readiness, and enhancing support capabilities throughout the domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support APIs, applications, and integrations that underpin BNZ's secured lending platforms, including services connected with third-party SaaS providers.
- Drive reliability and operational improvements through software enhancements, automation, improved monitoring, and proactive maintenance.
- Participate in platform lifecycle activities such as patching, upgrading, addressing vulnerabilities, and mitigating risks.
- Investigate production incidents, lead triage and troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- Develop and enhance operational documentation, runbooks, support protocols, and production readiness procedures to improve knowledge sharing and support outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Senior engineer with strong expertise in software development and enterprise application support, ideally possessing 6 to 8+ years in complex environments.
- Proficient hands-on experience with .NET and/or Java, Spring Boot applications, and API development and support in production environments.
- Experience with operational and platform lifecycle tasks including patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and production support.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, API integration patterns, and security fundamentals such as API gateways, mutual TLS (mTLS), JWT, and secure inter-service communication.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Spinnaker, Docker, and Kubernetes, plus monitoring/observability tools like Splunk and Dynatrace is highly advantageous.
- Bonus skills include React and TypeScript, automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Rest-Assured, knowledge of lending or financial services domains, and experience working with WebSphere-based systems.
Personal Attributes
- Proactive and reliable with a strong sense of ownership over critical systems and their outcomes.
- Composed and systematic in managing production support challenges, balancing urgent responses with strategic improvements.
- Collaborative and communicative, skilled at building effective working relationships across engineering, delivery, risk, vendor, and business stakeholders.
- Curious and pragmatic with a continuous improvement mindset aimed at enhancing systems through disciplined operational practices, thoughtful engineering, and thorough follow-through.
