Senior Data Scientist - Global Search & Consumer Experience

Our Global Search tribe is seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in Search Ranking to enhance the consumer experience across our extensive platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of advanced deep neural ranking models, such as DCN-V2, MMoE, and Two-Tower architectures, ensuring their production readiness with high throughput and low latency.
• Drive innovative machine learning research by integrating autonomous AI experimentation leveraging large language model (LLM) coding agents to automate feature engineering and Learning to Rank methods.
• Innovate feature engineering techniques and model architectures by applying expertise in ranking signals, embedding-based retrieval, and feature store utilization to elevate ranking quality.
• Maintain robust production reliability standards through vigilant model monitoring, drift detection, latency analysis, and feature pipeline integrity assurance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with backend engineers, data engineers, and product managers to implement scalable improvements and effectively communicate complex ML concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists, advocating for best practices in experimentation rigor, code quality, and adoption of emerging autonomous development workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred (or Bachelor’s with 6+ years relevant experience) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related quantitative discipline with at least 4 years experience in data science or machine learning roles in high-traffic production environments.
• Proven experience with deep learning ranking frameworks including DCN-V2, MMoE, and Two-Tower models involving multi-task learning and embedding optimization at scale.
• Deep knowledge of Learning to Rank techniques (pointwise, pairwise, and listwise), offline evaluation metrics like NDCG and MRR, and translating offline results into online A/B test impacts.
• Hands-on proficiency with LLM coding agents and autonomous CLI tools for generating experimental designs and rapid prototyping within ML workflows.
• Advanced technical skills in Python and machine learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn), SQL (dbt), cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), and big data processing technologies (PySpark, Scala).
• Extensive experience covering the complete ML lifecycle, including feature store management, vector databases, model versioning, experimentation frameworks, and deployment to scalable serving systems.
• Strong MLOps capabilities, including CI/CD pipelines for ML, experiment tracking, production monitoring for model drift, latency, and data quality alerts.
• Excellent problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills, capable of translating complex objectives into actionable projects and results.
• Demonstrated ability working effectively within global, cross-disciplinary teams.
