Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our data team in Berlin. As part of a six-member DATA team, you will work on diverse challenges including training and deploying machine learning models, creating Generative and Agentic AI solutions, and conducting statistical modeling. Operating in a flat hierarchy, you will collaborate with colleagues of various experience levels in a stimulating environment. You will lead your projects end-to-end, partnering closely with business stakeholders to extract actionable insights and develop AI and data-driven solutions that enhance our European e-commerce operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply statistical and machine learning methods such as regression, classification, and clustering, utilizing models like Gradient Boosting, Random Forest, Hierarchical Clustering, and ensemble techniques.
• Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI and Agentic AI applications using advanced NLP technologies based on transformer models like BERT and GPT.
• Implement time-series forecasting approaches including ARIMA, LSTM, DeepAR, and Prophet for predictive analytics.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, advanced feature engineering, and dimensionality reduction techniques like PCA and t-SNE.
• Build and optimize deep learning models with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras, incorporating transfer learning methods.
• Develop AI solutions addressing core e-commerce problems such as demand forecasting, customer churn and lifetime value modeling, pricing strategies, customer segmentation, recommendation systems, and personalization.
• Manage large-scale data using Apache Spark and a technology stack including Python (PySpark, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, LightGBM), SQL, Databricks, AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, SageMaker, Bedrock), GitHub, and AI-augmented development tools like Claude and Copilot, engaging directly with stakeholders to meet their business needs.

Candidate Profile

• At least 3 years of practical experience building and deploying machine learning solutions for business applications.
• Experience in e-commerce environments preferred, with consideration for backgrounds in fintech or high-paced agencies.
• Proficient in using Databricks as a Data & AI platform, with familiarity in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands-on experience in developing and productionizing Generative AI or Agentic AI projects.
• Knowledgeable in MLOps methodologies and associated tools for managing the full lifecycle of models.
• Strong expertise in foundational data science concepts, advanced competency in SQL and Python scripting (including PySpark, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, matplotlib), and experience with AI-augmented coding assistants.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, capable of explaining complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders and taking full ownership of projects while collaborating effectively within a team.

Salary Range

The annual brutto salary offered ranges from €60,000 to €80,000, adjusted according to recruitment outcomes.
