Senior Data Scientist - Advanced AI Specialist

Overview

Singapore Airlines is recruiting several experts in generative AI and deep learning to support its AI and data science initiatives within the company.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate as a member of the in-house AI Center of Excellence team tackling sophisticated challenges in advanced AI domains including generative multimodal AI, autonomous agents, natural language processing, computer vision, recommender systems, mathematical optimization, game theory, and experimental design.
• Research and develop complex machine learning algorithms tailored to stringent product requirements. This includes formulating hypotheses, conducting tests and experiments, optimizing and tuning algorithms, and ensuring implementations are scalable, robust, and suitable for deployment in cloud-based, customer-facing production environments.
• Lead and mentor a team of junior and senior data scientists within Kanban-based squads that deliver generative AI, data science, and analytics solutions across numerous business units, serving as a technical authority in your AI specialty.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to design insightful, impactful AI features and products, working hand-in-hand with data scientists, engineers, and strategists and maintaining strategic control over critical end-to-end AI workflows.
• Manage and maintain high-performance GPU computing resources both on-premises and in the cloud to facilitate training of large ML models and deployment of inference APIs in production.

Qualifications & Requirements

• A PhD in computer science, machine learning, or related AI disciplines is required; however, exceptional candidates without advanced degrees may also be considered.
• Proven exceptional problem-solving skills and leadership ability as a technical lead.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming; strong expertise in algorithm design, data structures, and SQL. Competency in modern languages such as Scala, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C# with at least an intermediate level in functional or object-oriented development is mandatory.
• Practical experience with big-data processing frameworks like Spark and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• A minimum of 3 years’ industry experience applying shallow and deep machine learning techniques with additional experience in the following areas:
• Use of recent proprietary or open-source large language model APIs (e.g., OpenAI GPT-4, Anthropic Claude 2, Google PaLM 2, Meta LLaMA 2) and development involving multi-agent systems and prompt engineering using frameworks like LlamaIndex or LangChain.
• Expertise in GPU-accelerated deep learning libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Ability to quickly adapt, train, and deploy state-of-the-art AI models or services into production, based on up-to-date research and open-source tools.
• Understanding of Bayesian statistics, inference, and probabilistic graphical models including Bayesian and causal networks.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies is advantageous.
