Senior Data Engineer – Azure

Overview

We seek a seasoned Azure Data Engineer to join a global technology company engaged in a strategic initiative to modernize its data platform. You will be instrumental in transforming a legacy on-premises data lake built on PostgreSQL into a cutting-edge cloud analytics environment leveraging Microsoft Fabric and Azure services.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve existing ETL workflows within an on-premises PostgreSQL data lake.
• Lead the migration and redevelopment of data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration processes to Microsoft Fabric employing cloud-native best practices.
• Architect, develop, and optimize highly scalable data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics and reporting needs.
• Create and sustain robust SQL transformation artifacts such as views, stored procedures, functions, and analytic datasets.
• Design and enhance data models spanning lakehouse, dimensional, and relational schemas.
• Develop and maintain data structures and Power BI semantic models facilitating reporting and self-service analytics.
• Collaborate extensively with analytics teams to ensure data solutions are performant, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
• Implement automated data quality validations and monitoring within ETL and transformation pipelines.
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues through root cause analysis and remediation.
• Support Master Data Management (MDM) and stewardship efforts to enhance data governance and consistency.
• Ensure data sources comply with enterprise data standards and governance policies.
• Document data engineering processes, pipeline architectures, transformation logic, and architectural decisions.
• Contribute to data governance, architecture, and quality framework development.
• Participate within Agile teams and foster cross-functional collaboration between technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or closely related roles.
• Proficient in complex SQL query writing, optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience developing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines in on-premises, hybrid, or cloud environments.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Proven track record in data platform modernization or cloud migration projects.
• Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies.
• Knowledgeable in modern data architectures including data lakes, lakehouses, and data warehouses.
• Experience with Python, Apache Spark, or other contemporary data engineering tools and frameworks.
• Understanding of data governance principles, data quality, metadata management, and Master Data Management concepts.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication skills with ability to bridge business and technical contexts.
• Self-driven and adaptable within dynamic, fast-evolving environments.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Fabric certifications such as DP-600 and/or DP-700.
• Experience leveraging Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Data Factory Pipelines, and Real-Time Analytics workloads.
• Background in Financial Services, Asset Management, Investment Management, or Capital Markets sectors.
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance platforms and data quality tools.

Salary will align with experience. Work Location and Eligibility
