Senior .NET Architect

Role Overview

A leading global technology and transformation organisation is seeking an experienced Senior .NET Architect to join a key client project in Dublin. This senior architectural position involves shaping complex software solutions, guiding technical direction, and collaborating closely with engineering teams and business stakeholders. The role focuses on devising modern .NET and Microsoft Azure solutions that are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and define software architectures that meet both business needs and functional/non-functional requirements.
• Make critical architectural choices impacting scalability, performance, security, maintainability, resilience, and accessibility.
• Translate business and technical specifications into robust, scalable software solutions.
• Lead architectural discussions with cross-functional teams including product, project, developers, and technical leads.
• Establish and promote standards, best practices, and patterns for software architecture.
• Provide ongoing technical leadership and mentorship throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Review designs and code to ensure compliance with architectural and engineering standards.
• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and challenges, developing mitigation plans.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools consistent with broader technology strategies.
• Contribute to software development roadmaps and assist in proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Support development teams with complex technical problems and troubleshooting.
• Mentor and coach development teams to enhance overall engineering capabilities.
• Ensure that software development complies with organisational standards and governance policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Substantial commercial experience with C#, .NET Framework, and modern .NET technologies.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing solutions using Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure PaaS services.
• Solid understanding of cloud development patterns and software architecture principles.
• Experience developing complex, scalable, and maintainable software systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and Entity Framework.
• Expertise with RESTful APIs and API-led integration approaches.
• Experience using Azure DevOps and modern software delivery methodologies.
• Familiarity with SonarQube and code quality assurance practices.
• Consideration of non-functional requirements such as performance, security, scalability, resilience, and accessibility standards within software solutions.
• Excellent communication skills capable of influencing and explaining concepts to stakeholders across levels.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentorship to development teams.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of front-end technologies including JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS, and jQuery.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise or transformation program environments.
• Background in defining or improving software architecture standards and governance.
• Experience in proof-of-concept development and technology assessment.

Benefits and Additional Information

This permanent, full-time position requires working onsite three days per week in Dublin. Candidates must have eligibility to work in Ireland or the EU.
