Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

Join F5 as a Senior Data Engineer within the Product Data Group, where you will be instrumental in designing and developing data architectures, models, and pipelines for product telemetry, logs, alerts, and other critical data sources. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of multiple data models and pipelines tailored for product data use, ensuring compliance with organizational data architecture, security, and access standards.
• Establish and maintain data management standards covering schema evolution, version control, backfilling, and retry processes.
• Drive adoption and development of best practices in pipeline testing, monitoring, alert systems, and operational runbooks, collaborating with Data Platform Architects on root cause analysis and remediation plans.
• Enforce service-level agreements (SLAs) and data lifecycle management policies, setting standards for data quality checks, observability, and real-time alerting in production environments.
• Document technical solutions and architectural designs thoroughly, advising data owners on data cataloging, metadata, and lineage requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, elevate engineering quality, and promote best practices; work closely with cross-functional teams to align event design, data sources, and contract standards.

Desired Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years of increasing responsibility in data engineering and architecture, preferably focused on product telemetry and log data.
• Proven expertise in data architecture design, modeling, database performance optimization, and standardizing deployment methods.
• Advanced skills in engineering data pipelines, flows, and systems with integrated monitoring, alerting, and quality assurance frameworks.
• Experience in data cataloging, metadata management, and coordinating with data stewards to preserve data integrity and lineage.
• Strong familiarity with DevOps methodologies including CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks within software engineering cycles.
• Competency working in regulated data governance environments, managing priorities involving diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Extras

• Hands-on experience with dbt, Databricks with Unity Catalog, Git, and AWS cloud services.
• Exposure to machine learning data requirements and workflows.
