Our Data Cloud team transforms raw data into reliable assets for business and customer use.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Staff Data Architect to take a leadership role in our Dublin office, with an expectation to be onsite at least half the week. This position is not managerial but offers significant technical influence and scope in the Individual Contributor career track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own a comprehensive technical domain within the Data Cloud platform, including canonical entity modeling, identity resolution, data design over time, semantic data layers, governance, and data delivery.
  • Lead architectural strategy and develop long-term technical roadmaps, setting standards and authoring critical architecture documents.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and data science teams to make strategic decisions impacting multiple teams and platforms.
  • Manage governance frameworks encompassing data entitlements, personal identifiable information (PII) handling, masking, consent, lineage, and auditability.
  • Define and enforce engineering best practices related to data modeling, APIs, data contracts, testing, and operational quality.
  • Engage hands-on in creating prototypes, reference architectures, key data models, and reusable templates for engineering teams.
  • Mentor senior engineers and aspiring architects, supporting engineering managers in technical direction and architectural decisions.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in designing and maintaining large-scale production data platforms built on Python and AWS.
  • Proven background in senior technical leadership roles such as Staff, Principal, or Architect level.
  • Strong skills in data modeling, identity resolution, canonical entity design, including universal key matching and temporal data structures.
  • Hands-on expertise in lakehouse and big data technologies including Apache Iceberg, Parquet, AWS Glue, EMR, PySpark, Athena, and Redshift.
  • Proficiency with modern cloud data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance standards, including entitlement management, PII handling, masking, consent frameworks, lineage, and audit processes.
  • Experience designing data products and external APIs, including semantic layers and data contracts.
  • Influenced engineering practices at scale through architectural forums, RFCs, and technical communities.
  • Excellent documentation skills for architecture design, RFCs, and incident analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Designing streaming and serverless data systems ensuring exactly-once processing guarantees.
  • Commercial Rust language experience.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or Databricks Marketplaces and large-scale data sharing environments.
  • Experience building AI and machine learning data platforms.
  • Past domain ownership spanning several teams or large organizations.
  • Background in financial services, credit risk, regulatory data, Know Your Customer (KYC), Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO), company hierarchies, or firmographic datasets.

Our Work Culture

  • Clear IC career progression with staff-level roles carrying substantial influence and compensation.
  • Culture of documented design decisions via RFCs and architectural reviews.
  • Emphasis on end-to-end ownership of services including operations.
  • Flexible agile methodologies tailored to team efficiency and value delivery.
  • Supportive and hands-on engineering leadership enabling informed tech decisions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package.
  • Provision of company laptop.
  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus.
  • 25 days paid holiday plus statutory public holidays.
  • Hybrid work model to balance onsite and remote work.
  • Private healthcare coverage and company pension scheme.
  • Participation in cycle-to-work and wellbeing programs.
  • Dedicated learning budget for conferences and professional development.
