Role Description

This role is pivotal for managing and owning the business-critical KPIs such as ARR, revenue, and GMV. It goes beyond traditional reporting by taking full responsibility for the definition, implementation, and explanation of these key metrics within the Data Warehouse. This includes deciding when technical definitions must be updated, executing changes, and ensuring all stakeholders understand and represent these metrics confidently.

The work location can be onsite, hybrid, or fully remote within Germany or selected European countries where Shopware is registered. The agreed location will form part of the employment contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the KPIs’ technical definitions and logic, especially ARR and revenue, including governance and audit readiness.
• Develop, debug, and verify analytical logic using strong SQL proficiency, with end-to-end data understanding from source systems through the data warehouse to reporting.
• Prioritize and independently manage a continuous backlog without needing close supervision.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers who handle pipelines and platform infrastructure.
• Design definitions, models, and reporting so stakeholders, particularly Finance, can independently address further inquiries without BI dependency.
• Establish a governance framework for KPIs alongside the Head of BI, promoting company-wide adoption and ensuring documentation and communication standards.
• Share workflows, logic, and processes with the team to embed established standards sustainably.

Candidate Profile

• Several years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Analytics with proven ownership of projects end-to-end.
• Expert-level SQL skills for working with complex, multilayered data warehouse queries and data models.
• Solid experience with modern BI tools; proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is highly valued.
• Strong understanding of business and financial KPIs, with willingness to engage deeply in their definitions and calculation methods. Familiarity with SaaS metrics like ARR, NRR, or Revenue Recognition is advantageous. Otherwise, a strong eagerness to learn is expected.
• Proven collaboration experience with Finance or business stakeholders; able to explain changes clearly to non-technical colleagues and defend analytical approaches when challenged.
• Highly structured, self-motivated, and proactive with a confident ability to question and address data accuracy.
• Excellent English skills at C1 level; German language skills are a plus.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks and version-controlled analytics development.
• Background in SaaS or e-commerce environments with relevant business data structures.
• Knowledge of data governance, data cataloging, or KPI documentation practices.
• Exposure to controlling, due diligence, audits, or investor reporting processes emphasizing reliable data and consistent definitions.
